Sexual Assault Reported at Providence Place Mall, Man Arrested
According to information from the Providence Police — provided after repeated requests — the assault took place on Friday, November 21.

Just a few hours after the assault, Mayor Brett Smiley hosted a tree lighting ceremony at the Mall. The public was not notified of the incident.
The female victim told police she was first approached by a man at Kennedy Plaza, who told her she had to go with him to Providence Place Mall.
She said that the man threatened her and said that he would “hurt her” if she did not accompany him. According to the redacted police report, the victim "stated that the incident was quick and he walked her outside and left the area."
Based on the description of the man, and knowledge of the man by the Providence Police — Rashaad Jenkins, age 38, was arrested.
According to Court records, first-degree sexual assault charges were filed against Jenkins on Sunday.
He is being held without bail.
