Cicilline Announces 2018 Congressional App Challenge

David Cicilline announces congressional app challenge
U.S. Congressman David Cicilline is encouraging students who live or got to school in the First Congressional District to take part in the 2018 Congressional App Challenge by submitting their design of an app for mobile, tablet, or personal computers.

“I’m delighted to host this year’s Congressional App Challenge for students in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District. This competition offers young people the opportunity to gain real-world experience and develop skills in the cutting-edge field of computer programming. I always look forward to seeing the apps that are submitted for this competition,” said Cicilline.

The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2018. Apps will be judged by a panel of local experts in the academic, software, and entrepreneurial fields.

Congressional App Challenge

Established in 2013, the Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide event open to all students who have not yet graduated high school.

The competition encourages students to get involved in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Students are allowed to compete individually or in teams of up to four people.

In addition to submitting an app for the Congressional App Challenge, students will also prepare a video explaining what they learned during the competition.
