As GoLocal reported this weekend, the cost of the failed Washington Bridge will begin hitting Rhode Island taxpayers. The Rhode Island House Finance Budget approved on Friday allocates $83.6 million for the state match for federal funds for the reconstruction of the shuttered westbound Washington Bridge that brings I-195 over the Seekonk River between Providence and East Providence.
“Due to the bridge collapse, we will be closing indefinitely. First the roof…now the bridge!!!” wrote Hooters of Warwick.
Known for its wings — and scantily clad wait staff — the first Hooters location opened in Clearwater, Florida in 1983.
Calls to Hooters of Warwick went to voicemail and were not returned; online ordering was not available on Saturday.
Hooters of Warwick Facebook page says it is "permanently closed."

In 2020, the Warwick Hooters on Airport Road reopened after it had been closed for five years due to storm damage.
The building was once owned by late Providence Mayor Vincent “Buddy” Cianci, who owned the former restaurant “Flyer’s” at the location before Hooters opened 1993.
Hooters of Warwick had regularly posted to social media up until its closure announcement, and the Hooters website showed it was open at 11 AM seven days a week.
In 2021, “Hoots Wings" had announced the signing of a six-unit deal for locations across the east coast.
According to the press release, "Wwned and operated by HOA Brands, parent company to hoots wings and Hooters, the fast-casual wing concept had plans to bring 50 locations to key markets across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island in the next five years. This new franchise agreement sets the brand up to expect six locations in those states - in Providence, RI, King of Prussia, PA, Newark, NJ, Hoboken, NJ, Atlantic City, NJ and Jersey City, NJ - by 2023."
