Fane Fires Back at 195 Commission Chairman Davis Over Claims

Jason Fane fires back at 195 Commission
After the 195 Commission issued a letter Thursday to New York developer Jason Fane which dictated strict deadlines and warnings of no new additional extensions, the Fane team fired back with a strongly worded statement criticizing the Commissions’ chairman Robert Davis.

“Jason Fane came to Providence to build a great project that will move the city and state forward, not to fight with the 195 Commission over bureaucratic red tape. He has committed several years of his time and energy as well as a significant amount of resources to construct this iconic residential tower,” said the statement issued Dante Bellini, a spokesman for Fane.

The dispute is just the latest in the permitting of the proposed 46-story residential tower proposed by Fane.

In the letter from Davis to Fane, “We hereby extend the TSA filing date under the Purchase Agreement to December 1, 2019,” wrote Davis, in a letter dated October 10, 2019 -- addressed directly to Fane.

He went on, however, to add that would be the final extension granted.

“To keep your project on track with the schedule underlying the Purchase Agreement, we must advise you that there will be no further extension of the filing date for the TSA,” warned Davis.  READ MORE HERE

Fane Takes Issue with Davis

“But it is unfortunate that Chairman Davis chose to send a public letter, rather than picking up the phone and working through a simple deadline issue that is misplaced to begin with. To set the record straight on the matter of the TSA application: it is in the wrong place in the schedule. This project required a highly negotiated document with hundreds of details and deadlines. The TSA Application should have been placed much later in the process,” said Bellini.

"We have been in touch with Secretary Pryor and Chairman Davis and will hope to work out this detail shortly in a positive and collegial manner," he added.

Davis is a “retired as a partner of the Boston law firm of Goulston & Storrs where he represented a wide range of clients in real estate projects over a 35-year career, according to his bio.
