Garden City Expands -- Two New Restaurants

Tavern in the Square
Garden City is adding two new restaurants as part of Phase IV of renovations.

The Simple Greek and Tavern in the Square will join Legal C bar in the new 30,000 square-foot building located between Bank of America and Newport Creamery.

“As we expand Garden City Center with the second new building in the last five years, we are exciting about our continuing growth, and our ability to provide more retail and dining choices for our customers. In an ever changing retail landscape, our ability to add new and exciting stores and restaurants to Garden City Center helps us meet the demands of today’s consumers and ensures our continuing success,” said Joe Koechel, general manager of Garden City Center.

The Simple Greek

Simple Greek
The Simple Greek was founded in 2004 when Mike Ference and Kathleen Kamouyerou-Ference opened a Greek pita stand in a garage in McMurray, Pennsylvania. They decided to franchise their business and reached out to Marcus Lemonis of CNBC’s “The Profit”.

With his help the family rebranded themselves with a new name, menu, and store design.

The restaurant currently has 12 locations across the country.

Tavern in the Square

Tavern in the Square was founded in 2004 by Joey Arcari, Renato Valentin, Mark Morris, and Stephen DeSousa. The first location was opened in Central Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts and over the years it transformed from a sports bar to a full-service restaurant.

Today there are 10 locations throughout Massachusetts offering a family friendly atmosphere, outdoor patios, and sizeable bars.
