Stephanie Cote joins BRCSM
The law firm of Brennan, Recupero, Cascione, Scungio and McAllister (BRCSM) announced the addition of Stephanie Cote to its attorney team.

She will focus on education law.

Cote spent two years with the Greater Boston Legal Services’ Children’s Disability Project where she was the recipient of one of fifty Equal Justice Works Fellowships awarded nationally to provide legal services to an underserved population. She represented Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients before the Social Security Administration to ensure benefit preservation and continued access to disability-related services and goods. She trained advocates and community partners on SSI eligibility rules and common problems impeding a child’s receipt of benefits. She developed strategies and tools for systemic advocacy and supervised legal interns.

Previously, Cote was a student advocate at the Northeastern University School of Law, Poverty Law and Practice clinic in Boston and a legal intern for the Massachusetts Advocates for Children. She was a judicial intern for the Honorable Bruce M. Selya of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Providence, and a legal intern for the United States Department of Education in the office for Civil Rights in Boston.

Prior to law school, Cote was a Corps Member for Teach for America for one year, and was active as a volunteer for the Massachusetts Special Education Surrogate Parent Program in Boston for three years.

A 2007 magna cum laude graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Cote received her law degree with honors from Northeastern University School of Law in 2012. She received the Dean’s Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship recognizing academic achievement and leadership skills. Cote is also a 2003 graduate of the Moses Brown School in Providence.

A resident and native of Barrington, Cote is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
