About Challenge

Participating employers will win points for engaging in specified prevention activities such as promoting to employees’ adherence to COVID -19 social distancing at the workplace and at home, encouraging employees to get a flu shot, and use of Choosing Wisely materials to limit low-value care that is not only wasteful, but often causes health difficulties.

"All employers have to do is fill out an intent to participate form — everything is virtual and online — it’s easy for the businesses, easy to earn points," said Bilotta. "Companies get extra credit for enrolling, and redesigning their workplaces."

The  Employer Crush COVID  Challenge is open to Rhode Island employers with two or more employees including non-profit organizations, municipalities, and the State.  A Crush COVID Champion Award will be given out to one large employer (250 or more employees), one mid-size employer (100-249 employees), and one small employer (2-99 employees).

Employers will be given access to an online toolkit containing links to information and materials that will help facilitate participation in the challenge.  The RIBGH Crush COVID Employer Challenge Committee will review the applications and select the winners based on a combination of the greatest number of compulsory points earned, most creative employee engagement strategies, and creative safe workplace executions.

“Participating in the Employer Crush COVID Challenge will give  Rhode Island businesses, non-profits, and local governments all the tools needed to better protect their employees’ health and safety and curb the spread of COVID -19,” said Al Charbonneau, Executive Director, RIBGH.  “Keeping COVID -19 under control is essential to keeping Rhode Island open for business.”
