Newport’s Salvation Cafe to Close After Nearly 30 Years

The restaurant made the announcement on Friday.
“We can finally say without fear of being sued (I think) that Salvation Cafe has 3 weeks to live," announced the restaurant.

“It’s been the grooviest road and we are so grateful for the past 30 years of the greatest customers & staff, all of whom are family now,” they continued. “It’s been our privilege to rock this block since 1993.”
“21 days left,” they added. “Get yer Pad Thai on!”
When reached Friday night, the restaurant confirmed the impending closure.
Pandemic No-Shows
During the pandemic, Salvation Cafe said it had 120 no-show reservations in one weekend, calling it "infuriating."

Now, they said, they are forced to take credit card info ahead of time — and charge for no-shows.
Salvation Cafe, located on Broadway, posted to social media...what had taken place, and urged people to come to the restaurant without a reservation.
"To be clear it was a choice, not a problem - we’ve been so lucky to be part of the Newport scene and will miss you all!" added the restaurant on Friday.
