NEW: Providence Ranks 32 in City Energy Efficiency

The City of Providence ranks 32 of 51 U.S. City's in city energy efficiency, according to the City Energy Efficiency Scorecard released by the  American Council For an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE).

Providence ranks 37th in local government, 33rd in community initiatives, 23rd in buildings while the cities lowest rank comes in at 17th in the category of energy water utilities and public benefits program.

Providence ranks the highest in transportation, coming in at 40th. 

According to ACEEE, Providence needs to improve on increasing resources for building energy code compliance and establishing local government operations and community wide energy savings goals. 

Two things that the city does well include having high levels of savings from electric and natural gas utilities, and having a sustainable plan identifying energy savings goals. 

The City of Boston ranks number one overall while Oklahoma City comes in last at number 51.
