Rhode Island Manufacturing Renaissance Collaborative

The Rhode Island Manufacturing Renaissance Collaborative is a public/private partnership composed of Rhode Island business development organizations. These organizations include the John H. Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University, the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation (Commerce RI), the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association (RIMA), and POLARIS MEP, formerly known as the Rhode Island Manufacturing Extension Service (RIMES).

A comprehensive database

“Our Collaborative mission is to build on the strong tradition of manufacturing in our state by delivering programs and services that create a culture of making things,” said Bill McCourt, Executive Director of RIMA.  “Over the past two years, we unified our outreach efforts, surveyed company needs, and developed a comprehensive database of RI manufacturers which serves as the basis for manufacturingRI.com. Companies can use this tool to grow their business.”

Manufacturing Rhode Island contains a database of over 1,700 RI manufacturing companies.

Growth of local manufacturers

“Rhode Island is a community of makers; through this new website we can help connect businesses looking to grow,” said Marcel A. Valois, Executive Director of Commerce RI. “Companies can leverage it to strengthen their local supply chains as well as to grow regionally, nationally and globally. This site is specifically designed to help RI manufacturers connect with buyers of their products.”

“Studies from the Boston Consulting Group and others show that manufacturing is making a strong resurgence in the U.S.,” said Ray Fogarty, Director of the Chafee Center. “This is evident in the solid manufacturing job growth in the past two years in Rhode Island. One of the fastest ways to grow manufacturing jobs is to focus on export opportunities for U.S.-made products and services. Resources such as Manufacturing Rhode Island will help our companies develop these opportunities.”
