Who has been your most important mentor and why?

I have been blessed to have a few truly incredible and inspirational female mentors in my life. The following women have paved the way, not only for me, but for other young women to thrive in Rhode Island: the Honorable Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg, attorneys Victoria Almeida and Elizabeth Noonan, Representative Edith Ajello and, of course, my mom. Each of these women have taken time out of their busy schedules to advise, support and challenge me to be a stronger and more excellent version of myself.

How are you helping to make Rhode Island better?

My hope is that I’m bettering Rhode Island and helping to move our state forward by making it a friendlier and more accepting place for entrepreneurs and people of all ages and backgrounds. As an attorney, I assist businesses in building and developing in Rhode Island. As Board Chair of Youth In Action, I help support the youth of our state to become more engaged and involved in the community, where they can use their voice and experiences to create change. I’m also on the board of the Millennial Professional Group of Rhode Island (MPGRI). As a MPGRI board member, I help promote Rhode Island to Millennials—there’s so much here to offer the next generation of community leaders.

What is one thing you feel everyone can do to help move our state forward?

I think the simplest and most straight-forward advice I can give is to get involved. If you are thinking about running for office, do it. If you are interested in helping a campaign, volunteer. If you are passionate about an issue, organize. As small as Rhode Island is, it’s still a big enough canvas for every single person to stroke their brush and leave a mark.
