State Cultural Facilities Grant Program Applications Now Available

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) has announced the availability of application guidelines for the new State Cultural Facilities Grant Program (SCFG).

Applicants have to submit their proposal by October 1 and are strongly encouraged to submit a letter of intent no later than September 1 that describes their project and amount of money it will request. Those who intend to request a grant that exceeds $250,000 are required to submit their letter of intent by August 1.

"The arts mean business in Rhode Island," explained RISCA Executive Director Randall Rosenbaum. "That business depends on facilities that work, that attract visitors to our state, and that contribute to the local economy. Thanks to the voters, Rhode Island's theaters, museums and performance spaces can play an even more significant part in our state's economic recovery."

The program will provide $6.5 million in capital improvement money for cultural facilities over the next three years, with $2.5 million available this year. Applicants will be notified of grant decisions by December 31.
