Three RI Businesses Featured in International Electronics Show

More than 3,200 companies have gathered in Las Vegas to show off their latest lines of gadgets and gizmos at the 2014 International CES, one of the largest consumer electronics shows of the year. Rhode Island – with three companies at CES 2014 – may have a small showing, but offers a wide array of products in three different fields of innovation.

Providence-based Ximedica focuses their efforts on the medical field, specializing in product development. They offer a wide variety of services such as integrated research, product development, and new product introduction. In addition to having a booth at CES, Aidan Petrie, the company’s co-founder and chief innovation officer, will be speaking on January 9th at the Digital Health Summit, drawing from experience to talk about innovations that are solving the healthcare crisis throughout the world.

 

Bad Dog Tools is an innovative tool company located in Bristol. Established in the early 1980s, Bad Dog Tools prides themselves on creating tools that can complete multiple tasks, such as a drill bit with the ability to drill through almost any material, and an abrasive wheel that can cut, sand, grind, and more. The tool company is showing all six of their brands (Bad Dog, Versa Clamp, Bad Dog Multi-purpose Drill Bit, Handi-Disc & HD II Cutting Wheel, Biter Drill-Mounted Sheet Material Cutter, and Rover Bits) at the show.

 

ION Audio is an inventive audio company based in Cumberland. ION Audio consistently offers revolutionary new products such as the Cassette Adapter Bluetooth, a wireless cassette tape that will stream music wirelessly through any cassette desk; a Desk Lamp Scanner, a product that works with IOS and Android; and a variety of wireless speakers, some of which are mounted within ottomans, planters, and fake rocks. They will be showing nearly 40 products at their CES booth.

CES 2014, a four day event, began on January 7th. According to their website, more than 150,000 people from 150 countries are expected to attend the event. The businesses in attendance will be unveiling more than 20,000 news products.
