Gregg's Restaurant Wins Outstanding Philanthropic Business Award

The Rhode Island Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-RI) has presented Gregg’s Restaurants & Pubs with the Award for Outstanding Philanthropic Business. The Rhode Island restaurant chain received the honor at the National Philanthropy Day Breakfast & Award Ceremony held late last month. Gregg's was recognized for their generous philanthropic contributions to the Rhode Island community.

A history of giving back

Gregg’s has been a huge supporter of Rhode Islanders in need for several decades. Their efforts include the Gregg’s Giving Tree, which brings holiday joy to more than 2,000 children, teens and seniors each year. Gregg’s also donates a portion of the sales from some of their delicious cakes to Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. Throughout the year, Gregg’s supports numerous fundraising events to benefit local non-profits.

Gregg’s has four locations in Rhode Island: 1303 North Main Street, Providence; 1940 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence; 1359 Post Road, Warwick; and 4120 Quaker Lane - Route 2, North Kingstown.

Nomination process

Re-Focus, a local non-profit human service agency which serves adults with differing physical and developmental needs, nominated Gregg’s for the Award for Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation. The clients of Re-Focus have been the recipients of gifts from the Gregg’s Giving Tree for 13 years. Last year more than 40 Re-Focus clients benefited from the Gregg’s Giving Tree program.

The Association of Fundraising Professions

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents 30,000 members in 229 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The Rhode Island Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-RI) is dedicated to improving the skills of fundraising professionals, increasing the participation of members and non-members alike in chapter activities and expanding our professional and career opportunities to embrace diversity
