United Way of RI's Miccoli Selected to National 2-1-1 U.S. Steering Committee

United Way of RI's Angelo Miccoli was selected to going the national 2-1-1 U.S. Steering Committee.

“The invitation to join and contribute to this group is not only an honor, it further underscores the success of our efforts to provide all Rhode Islanders with one single place they can turn to when they need help. I look forward to working even more closely with 2-1-1 programs and sharing best practices that ensure our service is of the highest quality,” said Angelo Miccoli, Senior Vice President, Director of Administration of UW 2-1-1 in Rhode Island & The POINT, United Way of Rhode Island. 

The 2-1-1 U.S. Steering Committee is made up of a select group of 2-1-1 leaders from all over the country who serve as liaisons between 2-1-1's national leadership organizations, the Alliance of Information and Referral Services and United Way Worldwide, as well as 2-1-1 programs in the field.

The committee is takes with advancing the capabilities of 2-1-1 through collaboration, system improvements, and new strategic initiatives. In total, 12 individuals serve on the committee, which is now in its 9th year of service to the national 2-1-1 network. 

In 2015, 2-1-1 in Rhode island handled 203,527 requests for help and further expanded its reach with the introduction of technology which provides help to people via text message.
