What is the future of the West Valley Inn - New Insights

GoLocalProv.com has spoken to the realtor handling the sale of the West Valley Inn — a Rhode Island Institution that was forced to close by the end of August — and gained some insights into the status and future of the facility.

“We're looking for the knight in shining armor to come in, and honor all of these things that have been booked. I feel bad for the operators that have been here for 40 years,”said Jeff Butler of Butler Realty Group/REMAX.

The property located at 4 Blossom Street in West Warwick is owned by Tara Food Services — whose President is Jaime Correia, according to state business records. The asking price for the restaurant and nearly 12 acres --$1.5 million.

“We're trying to make good news about this. As of today, no one stepped up to make a serious offer.  People assume the rumors from last spring that it might be sold or that someone already bought it -- it's still for sale,” said Butler.

The massive restaurant and wedding venue has been one of the West Bay’s largest restaurants. Now, many events and weddings are thrown for a looop with the facility closing.

“Ideally it will be used for the same purpose.  We've blasted [the listing] out to banquet facilities. Ideally, a caterer or banquet operator could have stepped into Bob's shoes, that would be there discretion, because of the name -- to me, it would be crazy to change the name,” said Butler.

“But someone could buy it and do what they want.  A JWU, there's so many possibilities. So we're getting it out there to brokers, developers, databases of commercial listings.”

No word from Correia or management on the future for employees or events pending at the venue. Efforts to reach management were unsuccessful.
