Latest for Plant City
As GoLocal first reported in 2019, Matthew Kenney -- one of the biggest names in vegan cuisine in America -- announced he was opening food hall Plant City in Providence. At the time, he had opened 17 restaurants across the world and had 15 more set to open, but this was his first food hall.
While the Plant City food hall has enjoyed popularity in Providence -- in 2020, GoLocal reported that Tennessee Titans dined there before a playoff game against the New England Patriots -- since its opening, Kenney has been embroiled in controversies.
In 2022, Netflix broadcast a series featuring Kenney and his once-partner Sarma Melngailis, chronicling one of their failed restaurants.
Anderson recently distanced herself from Kenney, after investigative stories in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times in recent months have brought to light a near-endless series of allegations about global plant-based food guru Kenney.
