Two Prov Chefs Headed to Ireland for “A Taste of West Cork” Culinary Festival

Siena Restaurant Group executive chef Anthony Tarro and Matt Varga of Gracie’s will be representing Providence in County Cork, Ireland this September at the annual “A Taste of West Cork” food festival.

“We are grateful to the organizers of ‘A Taste of West Cork’ for providing us with this opportunity to showcase Providence’s culinary excellence. Chefs Tarro and Varga are great ambassadors for the city and we look forward to working with them to promote travel from Ireland to Providence on Norwegian Air,” said Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) Vice President of Marketing and Communications Kristen Adamo.

The chefs will be accompanied by a small delegation from the PWCVB who will be promoting travel to Providence from Ireland via Norwegian Air.

The Festival

“A Taste of West Cork” runs September 7 to September 16 and spans along Ireland’s southwest coast.

It is the largest culinary festival in Ireland. 

There are more than 250 events encompassing 42 cities and towns.

Chefs Tarro and Varga will be guest chefs of the festival and participate in two major events. 

On September 12, both chefs will be paired with counterparts at local restaurants for limited seating dining experiences with a menu that highlights the culinary commonalities between the two destinations.

Tarro will be working with Hayes’ Bar & Kitchen in Glandore.

Varga is paired with Glebe Gardens in Baltimore. 

Both chefs will also participate in an event being billed as “A Taste of the New World” at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery on September 13. 

PWCVB Partners With City of Cork, Cork Airport 

The PWCVB is also partnering with the City of Cork, Cork Airport, and Norwegian Air to host a reception for Cork dignitaries, group tour operators, meeting planners and journalists at Vertigo in Cork City on September 14.

Adamo added, "The work that Green Airport and Norwegian Air have done to bring direct air service from Ireland to Providence has opened an entirely new market to us. We have seen our public relations program and other marketing efforts bear fruit.  This trip is the next step in growing inbound tourism.”
