University Orthopedics Adds Cohen as Orthopedic Surgeon

University Orthopedics announced the addition of Eric Cohen, M.D. as an orthopedic surgeon.

“University Orthopedics is very proud to have Dr. Cohen on board. His level of experience in the field will greatly benefit our team, and most importantly, our patients,” said President of University Orthopedics: Edward Akelman, M.D.

Cohen will also join the faculty of the Department of Orthopedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics.

Cohen will treat patients at the Total Joint Center at the Miriam Hospital, at the Rhode Island Hospital, and at all University Orthopedics’ locations.

About Cohen

Cohen is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult reconstruction surgery of the hip and the knee.

He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. He then completed an orthopedic residency and hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Lifespan Health System. In addition to his specialized training in hip and knee arthroplasty, Cohen has completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma.

Cohen has multiple research interests including those in orthopedic trauma and hip and knee replacement surgery. He has volunteered at orthopedic centers throughout the world, teaching and learning about the latest surgical techniques and innovations in direct anterior total hip replacement. 

Cohen treats adult hip and knee disorders, hip and knee osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis of the hip and knee, periprosthetic joint infections, periprosthetic fractures, as well as lower extremity fractures.
