Aerial Drones Capture Scenic Views of Providence + RI

Want to see Providence as you have never seen it before? PVD Aerial Productions is a local production company that uses drones - better known in the industry as "quad-copters" - to film and shoot land and cityscapes in Providence and surrounding towns.

PVD Aerial's use of piloted quad-copters creates amazing footage for the viewer and captures what the average photographer cannot; shots at eye-level with structural bridges, looking down at the Battleship Cove, and even soaring above the Rhode Island Statehouse create an immersive viewing experience.

The Brains Behind the Drones

PVD Aerial Productions is headed by Founder/ Creative Director/ Producer Remi Drozd who started the production company in January. Drozd uses his university training as a photographer to help him creatively direct the shots captured by the quad-copter.

"Everyone is becoming a photographer now,"  said Drozd. "A real photographer could get a better shot, and maybe use better equipment, but my interest in photography started to fade, because it became so mundane. But [filming with quad-copters] puts your artistic eye to work - if someone wants to see a building or structure that is already beautiful we can get sweeping, moving images that brings new life to the shot in a way that photographs can't."

Drozd is accompanied by his brother Patryk Drozd (Editor and Producer) who is specializes in post-production design and editing, and Mark Hannah (Designer and Editor) who has produced full-feature films in the past and assists PVD Aerial with giving videos a high-production value.

Inspiration

"We find inspiration for artistic pieces in forums, and watch what other videographers who film surfing [produce]," says Drozd. "I was first inspired by a video of a surf competition in Hawaii, and we now film kite surfing [which] no one was doing. People go all over the world with this technology and now everything is shifting to complex pieces of art that can show a whole landscape."
