Central Congregational Church to Host Lecture on the Protestant Reformation

The Central Congregational Church in Providence will host the first of three lectures commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

The first lecture titled “Martin Luther and the Dawn of Protestantism” will take place on Wednesday, October 11 at 6 p.m.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Lecture

The lecture will feature Brown University associate professor Tara Nummedal, Ph.D. She will explore the Reformation from the German side.

Following the lecture, there will be a question and answer session and reception.

Future Lectures

Lecture two will take place on October 18 at 6 p.m. and will discuss the emergence of Protestantism in England.

The third and final lecture will take place on October 25 at 6 p.m. and is titled “The Protestant Experience in Early Rhode Island."

Protestant Reformation

October 31 marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

The Reformation was a religious revolution that precipitated political, intellectual and artistic changes.
