Fit for Life: God Has Questions for You

He gave us a worksheet with some questions to self-analyze, create a plan, and break down a step-by-step process to develop and accomplish some goals. I will share the process in this article so you can also benefit from this.

The first question to ask yourself is: Where are you now?
This question requires you to go deep and give yourself some honest feedback. Self-awareness is the #1 factor in determining whether you make improvements to your life or not. You need to determine your position and honestly assess your current situation so you can map out a plan to improve in certain areas of your life.
Use data over emotions and personal judgment when trying to figure this out. Financially, I use the metrics from my business when determining where we are and if we are hitting our goals. Sometimes, it feels like we are busy and things are going well, but the bottom line on the spreadsheet tells us otherwise.
The same goes for your fitness and weight loss goals. When someone says they are doing the work, and we see that their body scan isn't showing improvement, we have the data to coach someone to improve their situation, so they can start moving in the right direction, and not waste time "thinking" they are on the right track.
With that being said, honestly write down things like, I am in debt 10k, or I am 20# overweight, or I am stressed at work and I put in too many hours. Whatever you need to work on, write it down so it becomes clear.
Next, determine "What's holding you back". Nine out of ten times, it's some bullshit excuse that we tell ourselves so we can accept mediocrity. I am not smart enough, not good with technology, or I have been busy at work, the kids have been sick, etc.
We all do it, but in all reality, the main thing getting in our way and holding us back is us and the stories we continuously tell ourselves. Even if it's something real like we are short-staffed, or we need a bigger location, or I have an injury, there are ways to solve these problems if we try hard enough to seek out solutions.
It's time to flip the switch from negative thinking to positive thinking. Every day, we are faced with a decision to either quit or become a warrior. The difference maker in life is whether you quit or keep going, so keep going, lose the excuses, and start taking steps to "unstuck" yourself.
What's the first step to fixing this? This is an important question to ask yourself because improvement needs to be broken down to use the step ladder approach. This means finding one area to work on and staying focused until you accomplish enough to move on to the next phase.
If you try too much at once, you set yourself up for overwhelm and failure.
If everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority. When we put folks on a nutrition program at Providence Fit Body Boot Camp, we don't change their lifestyle all at once. We take small steps, like starting with more water daily, then focus on eating more protein. Once you get small habits dialed in, you can add another, then another, and so on.
If you want to add more income to your bottom line, your first step may be to get more leads & referrals, run ads, or stop wasting so much time watching TV and scrolling the internet. If you know every stat on your favorite sports team and players yet are in a financial rut, prioritizing your time would be a good start.
Where are you capable of more? Here is another instance where honest self-evaluation is essential. Where are you NOT giving your best effort, or where do you have room to grow.
Leadership is the one thing I try to grow and get better at all the time because when you become a better leader, you force multiply as your team gets more dialed in. Everyone can be better at this because it's an ongoing journey with no certificate of completion or end date.
If it's your health and fitness that you want to improve, you can hit the gym more and lock in your nutrition better. Unless you eat perfectly and work out 6x per week, you are capable of more in this department.
Who were you born to be? Think of this scenario. You die and are standing at the gates of heaven. God comes up to you and asks, "Hey man, did you live the life I designed and intended for you? Did you live your best, fulfilled life, and give back by helping others along the way?"
Now, ask yourself this question about where you are currently in your life.
Here's a news flash. God didn't intend for us to be sick, overweight, broke, gossiping victims who point the finger and blame the world for our ailments.
He didn't design us to screw people over, feel entitled to an easy life, and expect others to do the work for us. He intended for humans to be fit, vital, healthy, take care of themselves, and offer help and assistance to our fellow humans along the way.
I don't know about you, but when I ask myself who I was born to be, I go back to the drawing board and create a new plan and goals to work on to become the best version of myself.
So go through these questions, and think of ways and areas you can improve, so when God asks, you can answer….yes!!
