Fit for Life: Take Care of You Because No One Else Will

I got vaccinated because I didn’t want to contaminate my friends, family, gym members, or anyone else that I come into contact with.
Sometimes taking control of your health doesn’t only affect you but it creates a domino effect with the others around us. I feel safer around people now and worry less about spreading the virus to others.

As far as vaccines go, some were, and still are necessary in order to prevent widespread viruses, sickness, and disease. Polio would have killed many more people if it weren’t for the vaccine. However, I don’t have a lot of confidence in the medical world and have even less in the pharmaceutical marketplace.
Too often, misprescribed pharma can cause serious health issues.
As far as trusting the government, and our leaders to have our best interest in mind…Let’s think about this.
Alcohol and tobacco are both legal as well as all the harmful substances in the food that line the aisles in our supermarkets. These things need to be approved by the government in order to be legally placed on our shelves so they can be purchased and consumed by us.
So, is it that no one knows the harm these products cause us? I doubt it, seeing there have been studies proving that these substances are harmful to humans.
So, with that being said, are our best interests the motives for the production and manufacturing of goods being sold to or encouraged to us to consume?
Probably not that’s why it’s up to us to make the right choices and to take action when it comes to our health and fitness.
If more people were in better physical condition, fewer people would have died from Covid.
The statistics show that most, not all healthy people that contracted the virus survived, and the symptoms were a lot less severe than folks that were in poor health.
Many people that died, had preexisting or some underlying condition, so their immune systems weren’t strong enough to battle the virus. People died that still had a lot of years left in them, and nothing is worse than an untimely death that shouldn’t have happened.
As sad as it was, this should be a rude awakening for everybody, that controlling your own health and fitness is in your hands, and if you don’t care and take action, no-one else will either.
Proactive vs. Reactive
Being proactive means being prepared and trying to alleviate problems before they exist. Problems that are inevitable to happen as opposed to manufactured “the sky is falling” types of problems. Such as your health.
If you are proactive now and make the time to take care of yourself, you are likely to avoid many health conditions that will surely have a negative impact on you further down the line.
If you are overweight and carry around a high percentage of body fat, you can be sure you will develop either diabetes or heart disease.
Smoking can have a direct correlation with certain types of cancer.
On the other hand, if you are conscious about maintaining your health, and keeping your immune system strong, you are FAR LESS likely to suffer from these ailments when you get older.
It isn’t that difficult. I tell my members that if you follow 4 simple steps, great health will be within your reach, but you need to create this as a lifestyle and consistently follow the program.
Step 1: Eat good food. When you eat quality food, you are building yourself stronger from within. Avoiding processed man-made foods will eliminate inflammation and allow your body to uptake nutrients more efficiently and effectively. Avoid empty calories such as sugar, gluten, dairy, soy and other foods that contain empty calories with zero nutritional value.
Step 2: Stay Hydrated. Your muscles love water, so when you keep them hydrated, they function much better. Your organs also need water to flush out the toxins you not only consume manually but other environmental toxins as well. Water-soluble vitamins will also be ineffective if you are in a dehydrated state.
Step 3: Move for at least 30 minutes daily. At Providence Fit Body Boot Camp we have mastered the 30-minute workout by giving you the ability to burn fat and build muscle in a fast efficient manner. We do this through HIIT training where you overload the body with resistance & stay in a metabolic fat-burning state by keeping your heart rate elevated the entire time.
Step 4: Sleep. Studies show that adequate sleep helps repair muscle tissue, strengthens the immune system, and creates hormonal development. 8 hours is the standard, so try to get to bed in time to get enough rest to support the regeneration your body needs.
This is how we are proactive as opposed to being reactive. Reactive is when we wait until something goes wrong, then try to find a cure for each and every ailment we encounter, when we could have prevented it in the first place.
When you go to the doctor, they very rarely try to find the cause of the problem. 9 out of 10 times, they try to give you a prescription for the problem, as opposed to trying to uncover the cause and solve the problem at the root.
The first questions should be about your lifestyle and nutrition, as opposed to just putting a band-aid on the surface of the issue. When you just treat the symptoms and not the problem, it will never go away, and eventually create more issues later on.
So regardless of whether you believe in vaccines, or choose not to get one, the important message here is that you stay proactive and focus on how you can put yourself in a healthier state now, as opposed to waiting for disaster to occur.
Nothing is guaranteed. Healthy people get sick too, however, the chances are less likely, and when it does happen, the symptoms are less severe.
The question to ask yourself is, am I willing to take the chance and gamble with my life?
You can invest in yourself now or pay the doctor later.
The choice is yours. Your health is in your hands.

Coach Matt
