Friday on LIVE: A Sandy Hook Mother On Turning Grief Into Action

Alissa Parker lost her 6-year-old daughter Emilie nearly five years ago in the Sandy Hook school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. 

At 3 p.m. on GoLocal LIVE, Parker will talk to Molly O’Brien about turning her grief into action. Since losing her daughter, Parker founded the non-profit Safe and Sound Schools and The Emilie Parker Art Connection. She’ll also talk about releasing her first book, “An Unseen Angel: A Mother's Story of Faith, Hope, and Healing after Sandy Hook.”

Author Taylor Polites will tell us about “Write Rhode Island!” a short fiction-writing competition for high school students in the state. He’ll tell us how the collaboration with students, schools and his group the Goat Hill Writers is a perfect fit.
