Rhode Island Campsites

With so many camping spots in Rhode Island, you may need to make a few trips this summer to enjoy nature, campfires and a great family getaway. From the Blackstone Valley to Newport to South County, this list has some great spots to park your tent or trailer this summer. Fees and amenities vary from site to site, so call ahead for details. Don't forget to make use our list of camping safety basics before you leave.

There are 755 sites at Watchaug Pond and near other swimming areas. Modern washrooms, showers, fireplaces, and picnic areas.

Campsite for 75 trailers only, no tents. Site holds flush toilets and is near a boat launch, fishing and swimming areas.

Fort Getty Recreational Area

Sites for 20 tents, as well as 86 seasonal RV sites and 19 daily RV sites. Fort Getty also features a boat ramp and fishing dock. Dumping station, showers, water, electricity for trailers. 

George Washington Management Area

Swimming, boating, fishing and hiking. Primitive tent and trailer campsites and shelters in a wooded area, grills. Admission fee.   

Melville Ponds Campground

Spots for up to 60 tents and 68 trailers. Facilities include free hot showers, water, electricity, rest rooms, fishing, campfire areas, playground, beach privileges, and some camp items sold.

Middletown Campground

This municipal campsite is for trailers only and has 44 sites. Toilets, sewer hookups and hot showers. Camping permits are issued at the park office.

Fishermen's Memorial State Park

1011 Point Judith Road, Route 108

Narragansett, RI

Divided into three areas, the park offers 182 tent and trailer sites, some with electric, water, and sewer hookups. Showers, toilets, dump station, recreational area. Varying fees are charged depending on residency and type of hook-up. Open year-round.

Legrand G. Reynold's Horsemen's Camping Area

This is a campsite for people with horses only. It includes 20 campsites with water, fireplaces, pit toilet, horse shoe ring, and riding trails. Open year-round.

Oak Embers Campground

Spacious camping areas include water and electric hookups, rest rooms, dumping ststion, picnic tables, firewood, laundry and a grocery store. Site features a swimming pool, game room, and fresh water swimming.

Worden Pond Family Campground

200 large wooded sites, situated on 65 acres. Electric service, water hookups.service. Small to large RV's welcome. Ice, firewood, two large, full-facility restrooms with coin-operated showers as well as a family game room.
