RISD Museum Announces Summer Events

The RISD Museum has announced a series of summer events.

On Sunday, June 23 the RISD Museum will host Super Arts Sunday, a day of family-friendly art activities, including projects with guest artists Brian Chippendale, Rachel Blumberg, and more.

Activities will run from 11 am to 4 pm and are designed for all ages to enjoy.

Super Art Sunday is free and open to the public and is sponsored by BankNewport.

On Thursday, July 17, the museum presents its annual summer party, Design the Night. Outside on the Chace Center Plaza, sparks fly as artists demonstrate metalsmithing techniques on the Steel Yard's mobile blacksmithing trailer.

Specialty cocktails will be offered from The East End with music by the band Nova One with Roz Raskin.

There will be hands-on activities for the entire family. Artist JessBrown occupies the Grand Gallery with an interactive installation questioning race and pop culture. Janaya Kizzie and the ritual art collective We Gather will host a special haunting storytelling game based on themes drawn from the museum's collection. Design the Night is sponsored by Site Specific and Zennovation.
