Yesterday morning we saw the last trailer towed away for the action that’s been taking place next door at DownCity since Chef Gordon Ramsay and his Kitchen Nightmares crew came to town last week. Everyone involved, including owner Rico Conforti and owner/general manager Abby Cabral have been sworn to secrecy until the episode airs next year, but we do happen to know a few diners who lunched there during a taping. After seeing Ramsay in the flesh, one diner told us, “He’s really tall, fairly cute, and a much bigger guy than it seems on TV.” The new post-Ramsay menus have been rolled out and are officially being served for lunch and dinner daily. … Newport native Kristin Hersh was ranked in USA TODAY's Pop Candy 100 People of 2010 this week, a compilation honoring those who have accomplished something interesting this year including those overlooked by mass media.
