The Steel Yard announced it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000.

This grant will support The Steel Yard’s Residency Program. The NEA will award 1,127 Grants for Arts Projects awards nationwide totaling more than $31.8 million as part of the recent announcement of fiscal year 2025 grants.

“Receiving NEA funding for our Residency program Is game-changing. It helps us support individual artists, giving them the space and time to make work, expressing ideas and leading our creative studios. It also connects us to a national network or organizations," said Howie Sneider, Executive Director of The Steel Yard.

"It is wonderful to see the Residency program and artists get the support they deserve! You can see the work of our current cohort at the WaterFire Arts Center until February 9th! Special thanks to our entire federal delegation for continuing to support a thriving national program for the arts,” added Sneider.

“The NEA is proud to continue our nearly 60 years of supporting the efforts of organizations and artists that help to shape our country’s vibrant arts sector and communities of all types across our nation,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “It is inspiring to see the wide range of creative projects taking place, including The Steel Yard’s Residency Program.”
