Botched Air Jordans for Crack Cocaine Deal Leads to Stabbing, According to Providence Police Report

The victim told police he believed he was trading Nike Air Jordans for crack cocaine, before he was assaulted.

GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTShortly after noon on Friday, Providence police were dispatched to the Cumberland Farms parking lot located at 744 Branch Avenue for a report of a carjacking with the victim stabbed.
Upon arrival, police met with the victim, who had a serious injury to his right eye and was stabbed in his stomach and was bleeding from both injuries.
The victim stated to police that he and the stabbing suspect had previously come to an agreement over text messages that the victim was going to trade him his Nike Air Jordan sneakers for crack cocaine and agreed to meet in the Cumberland Farms parking lot.
The victim stated that he drove from his residence in Johnston to the location and met with the suspect, who told him to drive behind his vehicle.
According to the victim, they stopped and the suspect and another man entered into his vehicle to trade the items.
Victim Details Alleged Assault
The victim said the suspect then stated to the other man, who was sitting directly behind the driver's seat in the rear passenger's seat, to "get him" and began choking him, as the suspect pulled out an unknown blunt object and stabbed the victim in his right eye and chest.
The victim said he was able to flee the scene and told police one of the two suspects drove off with his car.
Rescue treated the victim on the scene and transported him to Rhode Island Hospital.
