Owners of Anti-Police Wine Bar in Providence Who Spray Painted “ACAB” on City Hall Plead Nolo

Two of the owners of the wine bar “Fortnight” in downtown Providence who were arrested for spray painting “ACAB” on City Hall — for “All Cops are Bastards” — must pay restitution and have no contact with City Hall, except for city business.

Michael DaCruz and Heather Jackson pled no contest to the incident that took place during the riots in Providence in early June.

While other businesses in the area were being vandalized, graffitied, windows broken and looted, Michael Da Cruz and an accomplice spray-painted on Providence City Hall, which is just blocks from the bar, "ACAB" --  an abbreviation for All Cops Are Bastards.

According to a police report, Da Cruz and the accomplice, Heather Jackson were followed and arrested at the bar.

The court disposition last week for both Da Cruz and Jackson was a one-year filing, restitution, and no contact with City Hall.

The restitution amount is unknown at this time. 

Latest for Fortnight

The anti-police bar, which has been located at the corner of Dorrance and Weybosset, is now at a new location downtown.

In July, the bar was in the news again when City Councilwoman Kate Kerwin told police neighbors should “f—king get over” the loud music from the bar. 

Police later released body cam footage of Kerwin interacting with police.
