Providence Police Hit By Coronavirus Again - More Than 10 Out Presently

Providence police are being hit again with the coronavirus. According to multiple sources, at least more than ten members of the Providence police are presently out with the virus.

Since March, upwards of 50 officers have been infected and that number is believed to be climbing quickly.

This is another example of the spread of the disease that is sweeping over Rhode Island.

On Wednesday, the Rhode Island Department of Health reported 466 new cases --  and 578 cases in total for the day counting catch up reports.

According to the RIDOH’s policy released Monday night, each of the officers -- and anyone in their family -- would need stay out of work or school for 24 days.

“What people you live with need to do if you test positive: everyone you live with needs to stay home too,” said RIDOH on Monday. “People you live with cannot go to work or school while you are infected (10 days) and for an additional 14 days."

"Call the employers and schools of everyone in the house to let them know people will not be at work or school. Plan on 24 days home for everyone living in the house. (This is because symptoms can develop up to 14 days after your last exposure.) RIDOH will give you the exact dates when they call. Watch for symptoms of COVID-19 in everyone living with you," writes the RIDOH.
