Gov. McKee Signs Declaration of Emergency Ahead of Hurricane Henri

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee has reportedly signed a declaration of emergency in order to tap emergency powers, place the national guard of alert, and tap federal funds ahead of Hurricane Henri. 

Marc Pappas of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency made the announcement on national news ahead of McKee's expected 2:30 PM press conference. 

The Category 1 hurricane is expected to hit Rhode Island sometime around noontime on Sunday.

GoLocal meteorologist John Ghiorse said Friday that Henri looked to be Rhode Island's "first direct hit" in over thirty years, since Hurricane Bob.

At about 11 AM  Saturday morning the National Weather Service upgraded the threat and issued a Hurricane Warning for "Block Island RI, Newport RI, and Washington RI."
