Couple Say They Went to Buy Sneakers and Were Robbed at Gunpoint in Providence

Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery during what was supposed to be a sale of sneakers in Providence on Saturday. 

At approximately 4 PM, police were called to Manton Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. 

Police said they met with two individuals who had arrived at a predetermined location to purchase a pair of sneakers.

Upon arrival, the male victims said two men approached him — and that one punched him, and the other brandished a gun — demanding his money.

The couple said they were robbed of cash and personal items before the suspects fled on foot. 

Police are investigating.
