East Providence Police to Host Fundraiser for Detective Jose Taveira

The East Providence Police Department is hosting a golf tournament to raise funds for Detective Jose Taveira and his family.

According to police, Taveira is “very ill and courageously fighting.”

The golf tournament will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at Agawam Hunt.

The tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. 

Anyone interested in playing is asked to contact the East Providence Police Detective Division throughout the weekend.

Those interested in donating can make a check out to “EPPD Detectives Charity” and send it to the East Providence Police Station.

Taveira has been with the East Providence Police Department for over 20 years.

“He has established himself as an expert in financial crimes. He has prided himself on getting justice for those who were victims of fraud, especially the elderly,” writes East Providence Police in their press release.
