GoLocal has confirmed with high-level Rhode Island law enforcement officials that the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office and the Rhode Island State Police have opened a formal criminal investigation into high-profile realtor Kyle Seyboth.

GoLocal reached out to Seyboth, but he did not respond to the request for comment.

In recent weeks, GoLocal has unveiled a series of incidents in which Seyboth, in text messages, threatened to call the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) against a family if they did not agree to business terms.

In one of the text messages, Seyboth wrote:

I am calling ice this morning myself

No problem-

I have his number and ice will be called by noon

Scott [attorney DeMello representing the family]- ball is on your court

Lawsuit and Ice

I love it. Keep fucking with me

Seyboth, when asked about the incident, apologized, but also admitted he had called ICE.

According to law enforcement, those threats by Seyboth are one of the issues being looked at as a possible case of extortion.

Rhode Island Association of Realtors Review

Last week, GoLocal unveiled that top officials at the Rhode Island Association of Realtors (RIAR) sent an email to the organization's 7,000 members this week announcing the review and warning members.

In response to the news of the RIAR review, Seyboth, in a text to GoLocal, wrote, "I have great respect for the Association’s procedures and trust that the facts will provide clarity. I sincerely hope that no other seller—or anyone, for that matter—has to experience what I did: an acquaintance, taking advantage to the extent of $275,000. What was intended to be a 30-day transaction ultimately extended over eleven months."

"I deeply regret my actions and any words that may have caused offense, and I offer my sincere apologies to anyone affected. I’ve been a proud member of RIAR for nearly 15 years and remain committed to upholding the standards of our profession as I continue to serve the people of Rhode Island in the years to come. I've helped thousands of happy clients over the past 15 years and will continue to operate to the best of my ability," he adds.
