Fund Established for Family of Girl Killed by RIPTA Bus

A GoFundMe site has been established to raise funds for the family of 9 year old Ani Emdijan, who was struck and killed by a RIPTA bus on Smith Street in Providence on Tuesday morning as she was walking to school with her father, Osheen Emdijian.

The fund seeks to defray funeral and burial costs, and as of Friday evening, had already raised nearly $25,000 of the $30,000 goal.

The driver of the bus, Eric Seaberg, 42, of Smithfield, has been placed on paid leave.

This is the second fatal accident involving RIPTA buses in the past year. A security officer for the federal court was struck and killed by a bus in May 2014 in downtown Providence while walking in a crosswalk.
