Man Arrested for DUI With 4-Year-Old in Car

A man was arrested on Interstate 95 in Richmond for DUI with a four-year-old in the car, announced RI State Police Colonel Ann Assumpico.

Matthew Chouinard, 35, of Pomfret, CT, was arrested at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Interstate 95 North in Richmond after Troopers spotted a car being operated erratically, with no headlights or taillights on well after sunset.

A four-year-old child was in the car at the time.

Chouinard was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor or drugs, second offense, blood-alcohol content (BAC) unknown, with a child under the age of 13, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Chouinard was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks and released, pending a future court appearance.

The child was released to relatives.
