Man Seriously Injured in Daytime Stabbing in Downtown Providence

A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in downtown Providence late Friday afternoon. 

About Incident 

Police on patrol in Kennedy Plaza said that shortly after 5 PM on Friday, a disturbance broke out in Biltmore Park next to the skating rink.

According to police, a group of approximately ten people had gathered and officers encounter a male in his twenties suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. 

Witnesses told police the victim had gotten into an argument with an unknown male when it turned into a physical altercation by Trinity Beer Garden; witnesses the victim was stabbed several times. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
