Man Shot in McDonald’s Parking Lot in Providence

A man was shot in Providence overnight.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 PM Sunday.

According to police, officers responded to the intersection of Branch Avenue and Woodward Road for a report of a shooting. 

Upon arrival, police said they encountered a man and woman in a vehicle with damage to it. 

Police say the driver - a male in his 20s - was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and arm. 

The victim told police that he and his female passenger had been sitting in their car in the McDonald’s on Branch Avenue when they heard gunshots and realized he had been shot.

He said he then attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle before crashing the car. 

Providence Rescue transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
