Man Stabbed in Kennedy Plaza in Downtown Providence - Says Four Men Tried to Steal His Candy

Police say the victim told them he had been sleeping -- when unknown assailants tried to take his bag of sour patch candy before attacking him.

Shortly after 2 AM Tuesday morning, police responded to the Hilton Hotel on Atwells Avenue downtown for a report of a stabbing victim.
Hotel staff told police the victim — a male in his 30s — had come into the lobby and said he had been stabbed.
Police said they observed a stab wound on the victim’s lower back and that he appeared “distraught.”
According to the victim, he had been sleeping in Kennedy Plaza, when he was woken up by four male suspects.
The victim told police he had a bag of candy which the suspects demanded, before stabbing him in the back and fleeing.
Police say the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
