Providence Police arrest 12 individuals for drug trafficking in Kennedy Plaza
Providence Police announced that 23 individuals have been charged, but only 12 have been arrested following a four-month long drug trafficking investigation in and around Kennedy Plaza in Providence.

The City's handling of Kennedy Plaza has repeatedly come under criticism.

The individuals were charged with delivery of controlled substances to an undercover Providence Police Narcotics Investigator.

“This operation has successfully removed deadly narcotics off the streets of our City, focusing in the Kennedy Plaza area, which serves as the central transportation hub in Providence commend the Narcotics Bureau Investigators for their dedication and hard work throughout this investigation and also the leadership of Major David Lapatin and Captain Kevin Lanni,” said Clements.

The Investigation

The charges come after a four-month-long investigation titled Operation “Bussed Out.”

According to police, of the 23 who have been charged all 23 individuals have criminal records.

Narcotics included Fentanyl, Cocaine, Heroin and other controlled prescription substances. Police also seized a 25-caliber handgun from the Valley neighborhood in connection with this investigation.
