#39 Central Falls

At one time called Chocolateville because of a chocolate factory located in its center, Central Falls, which gets its name from the waterfall on the Blackstone River, is the most densely populated city in Rhode Island. #33 Johnston

Does a Rhode Island town ever outgrow its big hair reputation? Johnston might have had a chance, but the skyscraper stylings of perhaps its best-known local boy, Pauly D, have kept the big coif rep intact.

#23 Portsmouth

Portsmouth was settled in 1638 and is known as the “Birthplace of Democracy," It was here where British Commander-in-Chief, General Prescott, was captured by the daring Rhode Island colonel William Barton during the Revolutionary War. The town gets its name from Frederick Lewis, the Duke of Glocester after dividing from the Town of Providence.
