A Hells Angels associate was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police on Thursday September 8 on Route 95, and will be charged with possession of a schedule 4 drug, and possession of weapon other than a firearm, for having a knife over three inches.

Rhode Island State Police Captain Dennis Flemming confirmed with GoLocal that the arrest took place near Exit 1 in southern Rhode Island earlier on Thursday, and the suspect will be identified and processed Wednesday afternoon.

"Yes, the State Police arrested someone with the Hells Angels today -- I don't know if they were a prospect or full member, but it stemmed from a motor vehicle investigation," Flemming told GoLocal.  "All we can say at this time is that he was an associate."

Charges

"He was charged with possession of a Schedule 4 drug - tramadol hydrocodone -- and possession of a weapon other the firearm, a knife over three inches," said Flemming. "There could be additional weapons charges as well, but he has not been charged yet."

Flemming noted that the suspect is currently being held at the Hope Valley Barracks, and will be identified when processed.

Flemming refused comment as to whether there are any other current investigations pertaining to motorcycle gang activity in the state.

"I can't comment on that," said Flemming.
