NEW: PC Ranked 6th in U.S. for Semester-Long Study Abroad Programs

Providence College is ranked as one of the best schools in the country for study abroad programs.

According to a recent report conducted by the Institute of International Education (IIE), PC is the sixth-best school in the U.S. for semester-long study abroad.

“Semester-length study abroad resonates strongly with the academic and professional interests of our diverse student body. In particular, we’ve seen participation in global internships become an increasingly crucial component of the semester abroad experience. These opportunities cultivate vital cross-cultural competencies while yielding significant returns on investment after graduation,” said Joe Stanley, Dean of Global Education at PC.

IIE’s report, called “Open Doors,” covers the 2017-18 school year.

Studying Abroad at PC

According to IIE’s report, PC had 343 students spend a semester studying abroad during the 2017-18 school year. 

That amounted to approximately 35% of the College’s junior class.

According to the report, study abroad participation grew nationally by 3.8% overall from the previous year.

The top ten countries visited were: the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, China, Ireland, Australia, Costa Rica, and Japan.
