Police Identify Victims, Suspect in Westerly Shooting

Westerly police have released the names of the three women that were shot at Babcock Village in Westerly on Thursday morning.

They also released the name of the suspected shooter.

The suspect -- who reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound -- has been identified as Joseph Giachello, 66, a resident of the complex.

According to multiple sources, he was being evicted from the apartment complex.

Victims Identified

As GoLocalProv reported Thursday night, Julie Lynn Cardinal was pronounced dead at the scene.

A GoFundMe Page has been set up to raise money for Cardinal’s family.

According to police, she was a manager of the housing complex along with Robin Moss, who was also shot.

The third victim has been identified as Donna Thornley, 66, who was a resident of Babcock Village.

According to the police, Thornley is in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

Westerly Shooting 

The shooting took place at Babcock Village on Thursday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m. 

In total, two people are dead, including the shooter, and two have been wounded.
