About Incident

Family members of the victim were at the scene, who told police he was crossing Manton Avenue with an acquaintance when a dirt bike rider on Manton Avenue fell and slid into the victim.

They also told police the dirt bike, which struck the victim, was riding with two ATVs and a dirt bike. The vehicles are illegal on city streets; Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza is looking to allow them to operate legally

Police noted that the acquaintance’s left boot had an apparent tire scuff mark; he told police that the dirt tire struck his foot while the dirt bike was sliding.

A witness approached police and said he was familiar with the dirt bike and it was from the area. The bike was described as an orange and white dirt bike, and the operator was described as possibly suffering road rash to his side.

Upon Providence police's investigation, the victim left a pool of blood and the spot was measured to be "62 feet from the start of the scrape marks."
