Providence Police Investigating Stabbing on RIPTA Bus

Providence Police are investigating a stabbing that reportedly occurred on a RIPTA bus Wednesday afternoon.

About Incident 

According to police, a RIPTA driver alerted a patrolman in Providence to the incident shortly before 4 PM on Wednesday.

The driver told police the victim had been stabbed by a suspect with a large knife.

Police attempted to chase the suspect identified by the driver in Kennedy Plaza and then the Rhode Island Convention Center, but he evaded authorities. 

The victim, who sustained injuries to his forearm and upper arm, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. 

Police continue to investigate. 

RIPTA did not respond to requests for comment.

Two weeks ago there was a stabbing at Kennedy Plaza.
