Providence Schools See Exodus From Top Leadership

Three top members of the Providence School system are leaving.

Friday was Fran Gallo’s last day as acting Superintendent for the embattled Providence School System and GoLocal has learned that two members of the Providence School Board are departing.

Bobby Gondola, secretary of the Providence School Board is leaving. Professionally, he is the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement and College Relations at the Community College of Rhode Island, where he leads the Foundation, alumni affairs and community relations.

And, Lorraine Lalli has announced her resignation from the Providence School Board — she is Assistant Dean of Students at Roger Williams University School of Law. 

Leadership, Size, and Scope

Providence, the state’s largest school department, serves approximately 24,000 students who attend 41 schools.

Providence schools, now controlled by the state of Rhode Island, employ more than 3,200 professionals who work at the  22 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 10 high schools, and 2 public district charter schools. 

Gallo had made her intentions known last week.
