NEW: Rhode Island's Unemployment Rate Now Worst in Nation

Rhode Island's unemployment rate for December 2013 ranks as worst in the nation, and is the only state with a rate higher than nine-percent.

The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training announced last week that the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate had risen to 9.1% during December.

Rhode Island was tied for highest unemployment rate in November 2013 at 9.0 percent, but according to national state figures released Tuesday, Nevada was able to trim their rate to 8.8 percent in December, leaving the Ocean State in sole possession of last place.
