NEW: RI Announces 84 New Coronavirus Infections — Watch 1 PM Press Conference HERE

The Rhode Island Department of Health announced 84 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 19,481.

There are currently 79 hospitalizations according to the state, with 14 people in the ICU and 5 on ventilators.

There was one additional death.

RIDOH reported having conducted 3,123 tests yesterday, after having done 4,558 tests the day before. 

As GoLocal has reported, there has been a significant delay — and backlog — in testing in nursing homes and across the state. The numbers reported could reflect cases tested from as much as a week ago or more. 

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo and officials will be live at 1 PM on Wednesday for their weekly press conference.
