More Testing, Addressing Restaurants Liquor Sales

Rhode Island Department of Health Director Dr. Nicole Alexander Scott said that the state is trying to increase testing, as it is calling for supplies from the federal government — and businesses.

“We need to ramp up our testing — we understand there is community spread,” said Alexander Scott. “The more testing we can do the more we can identify the cases out there. That’s why it’s important people follow our guidelines.”

Raimondo also addressed Rhode Island restaurants who are asking to be able to sell alcohol to customers, akin to the “Merlot to go” law approved in Rhode Island years ago.

“I would like to be able to allow it and am working through the regularity barriers in Rhode Island to see if it’s something I can do through my executive orders,” said Raimondo.
